Everyday Minerals review

Recently I got some Everyday Minerals foundation samples - Golden Light, Golden Winged Butter and Olive Golden Medium, all in semi-matte. I've never tried minerals before so I wanted to see what all the hype was (and I didn't want to fork out $42.90 on a 5g tub of the Body Shop's Nature's Minerals).

Anyway I quite like them, they don't really sit on your skin but tint it instead. I think semi-matte's supposed to be the best formulation, but it makes me a frickin oil slick in no time, I know a lot of people who experienced that as well. Plus the coverage is super sheer, like what you get from a tinted moisturiser. (But I like it!) It definitely emphasises dryness but I'm still young so I don't care. As for the shades, I'm MAC NC25 and golden light is a little light, winged butter is a bit too yellow while golden medium is not yellow enough. So I'm trying to mix them up. I like the mixing part, it's kind of fun. XD

I'm so sad that the holidays are ending soon! School starts next week! Omg! On Saturday I went to a friend's 21st. On Sunday I had a family dinner at International Seafood, it was like $40 a head but the food was so good, we had black pepper crabs, drunken prawns, beef (kind of stupid to order beef in a seafood place but hey), dou miao and fishmaw scallop soup. It made my tummy so blissful. :D You know, that dinner was supposed to be our post-exams celebration, except it kept being postponed. :P And that very night was the night our results were supposed to be out. Smart huh. If they'd postponed the dinner any longer, I wouldn't have had any dinner at all after the release of the results, if you get my drift. Haha!

And yesterday I went out for dinner at Suntec with some friends and shoot, it has changed quite a bit, so there's a higher tendency for me to get lost in that place. :(

I don't want the holidays to end. (And what's a holiday without a class outing?!)

メリクリ Meri Kuri!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! The 2nd photo was my Christmas card this year, asofterworld-inspired. :P We didn't really celebrate Christmas, just a nice seafood dinner on Christmas Eve (buttered prawns!) and a Japanese lunch on Christmas day (cha-soba, breadcrumb-coated chicken steak, and a fusion miso soup with tonnes of stuff in it), and a log-cake for dessert. And fruitcake for breakfast. And since my dad was away till recently and my sisters hate cinnamon, I got to finish most of the cinnamon cookies. XD
I went out with my old old friend Ming Li a couple of days ago and she gave me a bracelet, I love it! (:

Anyway, I've since finished reading the entire Stephanie Meyer series and I don't really feel like watching Twilight anymore since everyone tells me it's not very nice. (And Tracy has been secretly not wanting to watch it as well I'm sure!) The Twilight series is way too much of a romance for me, the 3rd and 4th books had me cringing and I totally pity that guy who's playing Edward Cullen. If he's still acting for the 3rd and 4th movies, I really pity him. Poor dude. I mean, the romance scenes are PG, but that kind of contributes to the cringe-worthiness as well.

Ok I'd better stop before I get beaten up by Edward Cullen fans. Bisou!

Quick Update

Sensei's early birthday celebration.
Prof Chua's birthday outing at Island Creamery. We got her a microphone-radio so she can pretend to sing karaoke while the music's playing. XD I like the teh-tarik ice-cream, and the apple pie ice-cream is the bestest!!! It's so far away though.Recently my violin started to sound funny and I was so worried that I'd damaged the sound post or something cos I'd forgotten to remove my shoulder rest and accidentally closed my case on it. Then I googled it and realised it's normal for buzzing sounds to occur in colder months cos of the contraction of the wood. Thank God! Replacing a sound post would cost hundreds of dollars, which I really can't afford right now.

Christmas is coming!!! :D And school will soon be starting ;_;

Don't Mess My Holiday!

2 new pairs of kitten heels.
2 Bourjois blushes in Rose Ambre and Rose Frisson. Rose Ambre doesn't have shimmer but Rose Frisson does. The ones without shimmer are generally more pigmented. All of them have an old-fashioned powdery rose scent which lingers and might annoy some people but I like it. They don't cause any breakouts either so I love them. The brushes are absolute rubbish - I use my Bobbi Brown face blender brush instead. Apparently if you calculate the price by the gram, Bourjois blushes are more expensive than MAC's, but MAC's smell very cosmeticy and they have a tendency to cause breakouts, so it's Bourjois for me.
Swatches - Rose Ambre, Rose Frisson.

Stuff from The Face Shop I got at 5% off with my friend's card - Lavender Fine Foam facial cleanser and Green Tea massage gel. I really like the lavender scent, it's so relaxing. Haven't tried the green tea yet, it's supposed to be really good.

Tag - Once you’ve been tagged, you have to write a blog with sixteen random things, facts, habits or goals about you. at the end choose ten people to be tagged, listing their names and why you chose them. don’t forget to leave them a comment (“you’re it”) and to read your blog. you can’t tag the person who tagged you.

1. I really love avocado milkshake.
2. I can do a split.
3. I can't eat really spicy stuff, like chilli.
4. I have an addiction to caffeine.
5. Because I need 9 hours of sleep to feel truly rested and I get about 6 when there's school.
6. I have serious trouble swallowing pills or capsules so I hate taking vitamins though I know they're good for me.
7. I enjoy forcing myself to do things I don't like to do.
8. Like daring myself to squash a cockcroach.
9. But I can't smack mosquitoes with my bare hands, I always have to use a magazine to smack insects or bugs.
10. I don't like talkative people because they interrupt the voice inside my head. XD
11. I don't really like using the Internet.
12. I don't really like using Facebook.
13. I don't like going on IM either. XD
14. So I can't fathom why I actually have a blog.
15. A lot of people are curious as to what I do and why I'm so busy.
16. But there are so many things I don't quite know how to begin! I can only say I'm not one of those people who bum out in front of the TV and get fat on weekends.

I'm kind of tired, I've been going out and the shopping scene is getting quite boring, though there are many tempting things which I must resist!! My head is also getting quite tired with imagining the magnitude of aleph-umptyplexes and stuff. My tummy is also recovering from a birthday dinner I had the other day, a 4 course thing with extra birthday cake after dessert.

Gosh I can't take so much food really, and people keep asking me out to buffets for which I have to keep thinking of reasons to politely decline because they don't increase my utility in the least. If there's such a thing as a negative marginal utility, that's what I'd get from buffets.

The weather's been so delightfully cold recently that I keep wearing my white sweater with the funky double zippers around even though this is like, a tropical country. I'll take a photo of it soon. XD

I hate STARS

I hate this whole registration thing, I'm so depressed!!! Thanks to Huiyi for telling me about autoclick but sadly it's no use because nobody's dropping anything.

You know, I'm seriously thinking about offering $$ in exchange for the risk module cos there's a 25% project in it, but I'll think about it when I'm less depressed.

(And the 25% project is on some sort of IT thing I think, which you have to do on an actual company, which would be such a nightmare I think cos I'm so bad at that, and I don't want bitchy people to give me lousy group participation marks, like this group I was in in Sem 1 Yr 1 - they thought I didn't know but I totally know cos I compared my grades with my friend who was supposed to get totally the same as I did but we didn't cos I got pulled down by participation.)

My tax is off as well (I got my feelings cheated cos they told me they'd be choosing 87 but then they ended up in 84 with everyone else, but my friend tells me 87 has a great tutor so it was quite difficult to get 87, and I don't really care cos I don't think there's a project for tax).

Good Lord I hope a miracle happens during add-drop, like this semester when I switched classes into the other class with the extremely amusing prof-cum-author of 1029121090 textbooks.

JLPT's over!

JLPT's over! Yay! I was quite stressed over it cos my Friday classmates are really good in Japanese but when I met my Thursday classmates they were as stressed out as I was and one of my friends had failed all her mock tests, lol!

It turns out that everyone thought this year's test was difficult so it's good cos even if it was easy I wouldn't fare that well either. :P
After that we went to have a huge lunch and watched Bolt! It's a super cute movie and I really wanted a dog after that. I want a maltese so bad!

We went shopping and talked till most of the shops were closed. The Christmas decorations in town this year aren't that great, maybe because of the economy. There weren't enough lights so it wasn't very dazzling at all.
violin stuff
Some stuff I got from the Gramercy sale. I really like the rosin, it's so pretty, like hard candy! It's like $16 a piece though, and that's after discount. The pouch is so pretty as well! (I forgot to remove the sticker.) I want to get a smaller phone so I can use it as a handphone pouch. ^^

Ok I gotta go meet my friend, ciao!

Yogurt Mask

laneige strawberry yogurtbanana
I really wanted to get the very cute Laneige Strawberry Yogurt Peeling Gel and Pack and the Skinfood Yogurt Wash Off Masks (they have it in banana, kiwi, and papaya), but they didn't get good reviews, so I bought a cup of plain yogurt to curb my spending!
yoghurt mask
I bought low-fat, but apparently full-fat is the best. The lactic acid in yogurt helps to exfoliate, plus it's pretty moisturising! The consistency of this yogurt is pretty dense and not drippy at all, and I only need a flat tablespoon of it each time. After smearing it on, it dries in about 15 minutes and then you can wash it off. I tried mixing in crushed aspirin (like the aspirin mask), leaving it on, then wetting and scrubbing it off. Works better than honey I think, cos honey is really drippy. Plus you get both the benefits of salicylic acid and lactic acid. Best thing is, a cup of yogurt is only $2.15! :D
I also noticed that this brand comes from Parmalat! We had a case study on Parmalat once. Cool!

Anyway I am back in hall. It's so peaceful when all the noisy people are gone. I'm not eating any of the disgusting food, so I'll be cooking! Yay! Well I'd better be off to study my 25+ chapters of Japanese now...
